Business Lesson From My Driveway

1

I'm outside. I've been shoveling my driveway for the last hour, trying to remove a foot of snow from our driveway and sidewalk so we can get in and out of the house.

It's frustrating and annoying because we're not used to that much snow in Cincinnati… at least not in one day.

What does this have to do with business?

But, 1800 miles away from me, I have friends who live in Los Angeles whose lives and homes are being threatened by a massive wildfire that's been out of control.

When I think about what they're going through, a little bit of snow and some cold isn't such a big deal.

𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙪𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨?

Sometimes we hit obstacles, challenges, and frustrations, it feels like there's no way we can get around them.

The next time that happens, ask yourself a question:

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲?

Not so you can feel depressed, down, or negative.

No.

Ask it so that you can step back and say, “Yes, this is frustrating. It feels insurmountable, but, is it really? Or, am I only temporarily stuck?”

By asking that question, you gain perspective.

It may stop that train of thought tells you life couldn’t get worse. That mindset is a trap and kills your motivation and creativity.

Whatever you’re experiencing, life could be worse…a LOT worse.

Remember this and you free up your mind for solution-oriented thinking.

𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙘𝙠?

Ask that question:

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲?

Watch how it helps you solve your problems.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got more snow to shovel.
